Organic Lawn & Shrub Fertilization

Why Organic?  Meridian has always worked with the health of the environment, clients and employees in mind.  From a chemical perspective, we have encouraged an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategy.  Such a strategy ensures that chemicals are used only after less intensive methods have been tried.  When chemicals are applied, they are applied correctly.  Our organic program extends our philosophy of working responsibly.

Each organic program is specific to individual property needs.  In general, the components of an organic lawn care program include taking steps to improve soil so healthy grass thrives.  Basic steps included in most lawn programs include:

  • Soil Test and Site Assessment
  • Lime - Lime is only used if needed as determined by a soil test.  Typically, lime treatments are done at the beginning of a program and are not ongoing.
  • Aerating and overseeding
  • Topdressing with compost
  • Use of natural organic fertilizers
  • Proper mowing and irrigation practices

Again, each property is different, and the key to a successful program involves soil testing and a site assessment.  A specific plan of action can be created for your property once the soil and property has been properly assessed.
